About Us

Who we are and what we do

Tutor.com is the #1 online homework help and tutoring service. How do we know that? Well, we have more than 3 million tutoring sessions under our belt, have thousands of tutors online 24/7, and students tell us that we've helped them get their schoolwork done, feel more confident about school, and improve their grades.

How Tutor.com Started

In 1998, a small group of passionate education and tech professionals led by George Cigale (our CEO) had a terrific URL and a big idea—use the Internet to connect students to tutors for tutoring at anytime from anywhere. So, they recruited about a hundred tutors and created one of the first online, interactive classrooms. Today, we have thousands of tutors helping students with everything from homework and projects to studying and test prep.

Helping students with any subject, anytime

Students today have a lot going on between homework and studying, extracurricular activities and responsibilities at home. That's why Tutor.com is available on-demand. If you need help factoring a polynomial at midnight, you can connect to an algebra tutor. Or, if you need help balancing a chemical equation before school, you can work with a chemistry tutor. Any subject, any time, we can help because our tutors are always available—you never need an appointment.

Thousands of professional tutors

Our tutors are real people—they've all been through high school and know what it's like to be stuck on homework. And, to become a tutor, they each had to undergo an extensive screening, certification and background-check process.

We serve families, libraries, corporations and even governors

In addition to our direct-to-consumer service, we also have library programs: Live Homework Help,® an after-school program offered at over 1,800 public libraries as well as to corporate benefit programs, and Ask A Librarian,™ a virtual reference service for public and academic libraries. Tutor.com also powers two statewide, governor-supported initiatives: HomeworkKansas and HomeworkAlabama.
