Tutor.com Achieves IMS Global Learning Interoperability Certification
NEW YORK, June 10, 2014–Tutor.com, the largest online tutoring company, recently achieved conformance certification for Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) from IMS Global Learning Consortium. LTI establishes a standard for integrating rich learning applications with learning management systems, student information systems and student portals.
As a certified LTI application, Tutor.com can seamlessly integrate the company’s 24/7 online personalized tutoring services with the other content and tools college students are using through their learning management or student information systems. Colleges and universities can quickly and easily configure and customize secure single sign-on links to Tutor.com’s services.
“All of our students, whether enrolled in online or on-campus courses, have access to our learning management system. Once we discovered that Tutor.com had LTI integration with Desire2Learn, it was a natural progression to deploy that to our users,” said Chris Meyer, Dean of Learning Resource Center for Rose State College. “Students now have access to Tutor.com directly from the learning environment and from the courses in which they need assistance. This is one less hurdle students need to jump through to receive tutoring help.”
“IMS is very pleased with Tutor.com achieving LTI certification as a tool provider," said Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of IMS. "By incorporating LTI integration Tutor.com will enable a more seamless experience for their customers across a wide range of integration scenarios."
Tutor.com’s higher education services include online personal tutors for individualized learning along with Predictive Insights™, a classroom connected “early alert” data service. This responsive program is helping colleges of all types and sizes increase student engagement and course completion while simultaneously monitoring student progress in real-time to spot at-risk students early enough to intervene. Every night, thousands of college students from across the country use Tutor.com to work with an expert tutor in subjects ranging from algebra and economics to Spanish and nursing.
