Tutor.com is hiring High-Dosage Tutors for high-frequency, small-group, online tutoring sessions with K–12 students. This role is a daytime, scheduled-hours position perfect for retired and former teachers, substitute teachers, or anyone with Math or ELA subject matter expertise who is looking for a role working remotely.
Our easy-to-use online classroom allows tutoring to take place from any distraction-free location, on any computer with a stable, high-speed internet connection. There's no travel necessary! Tutoring sessions include online tools such as an interactive whiteboard; voice, video, and text-chat communication; and file sharing.

What are a High-Dosage Tutor’s responsibilities?
Major Responsibilities:
- Utilize provided curriculum to tutor small groups of students online in a remote environment
- Meet with the same group of students, typically three times per week at a pre-scheduled time during the regular school day
- Engage students using online tools such as interactive whiteboard, voice, video, and chat communication
- Utilize student assessment data to determine and address gaps in knowledge
- Provide Lesson Reports to Tutor.com staff, teachers, and school administrators on student achievement
- Implement feedback from Instructional Specialists to improve pedagogical methods and maintain quality communication to effectively address student needs
What are the requirements?
High-Dosage Tutors are required to:
- Participate in training and professional development to understand and apply the methodology of high-dosage tutoring
- Reside in and be eligible to work in the U.S.* and tutor from the U.S.
- Be available to tutor at least ten hours per week during the school day. Schedule may change slightly from semester to semester
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in Math or ELA
- Adapt instructional approach as necessary to ensure student engagement and understanding
- Possess strong communication skills and fluency in English
- Must have earned a 4-year degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university
What are the technology requirements?

- Windows 11 or Windows 10
- 4.0 GB of system memory (RAM) or greater (we recommend 8 GB)
- Processor (CPU) running at 1.8 GHz or higher (we recommend 2.4 GHz)
- A stable, high-speed internet connection with speeds of at least 15 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up (we recommend: 20 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up)
- Microsoft Office or equivalent third-party software that can view and edit Office files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx)
- Desktop or laptop with Display capable of at least 1280 x 720px resolution (we recommend 1920 x 1080px)
- A tutoring computer with the capability to transmit and receive audio for use with our software's Voice feature
- Webcam or integrated camera for use with our software's Video feature
Prefer to work on a Mac? If you are able to install and run Windows via a multi-boot system (such as Boot Camp) or in an emulated environment (such as Parallels, VMWare) and you can obtain the required software (Microsoft Word) for Windows, your application will be considered.
Where does tutoring take place?
Tutors must tutor from within the U.S. Our convenient online classroom lets you tutor from your home, office, or any computer with a stable, high-speed internet connection. There's no travel necessary!
How much are HDT tutors paid?
High-Dosage Tutors are paid $22/hour. More information about our pay structure will be provided once you have successfully completed the initial application and subject exam phases of the process.
